Protection against a hidden danger.
Carbon monoxide is a potentially fatal gas which you can’t see, smell or taste. CO alarms must be installed anywhere there’s a fossil-burning appliance so you’ll get an early warning if something’s not right.

HOMEOWNERS AND LANDLORDS
Who needs a CO alarm?
If you’re a landlord, the Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm Regulations require a CO alarm to be fitted in any room with a fixed combustion appliance, such a gas boiler, gas fire, or wood burner (gas cookers are the exception).
If you own and live in your home, it’s not mandatory, but we strongly recommend it, it’s one of the simplest ways to protect against a risk you have no other way of noticing

HOW IT WORKS
What happens on installation day?
An engineer will assess your home to work out where CO alarms are needed. They ‘ll then fit and test each alarm in the agreed locations, before explaining how to test and maintain them going forward.

Gas cookers are the exception
The legal requirement covers rooms with a fixed combustion appliance — but specifically excludes gas cookers
